St Helens dentist Andrew Finney

Andrew Finney BDS (Liverpool) GDC reg no 63639

Andrew qualified from Liverpool in 1988 and worked in Southport and Liverpool for a short while before moving to St Helens where he still lives. Married to Collette for 26 years they have two grown up children Alexandra and Jack who have both now fledged.

Outside of dentistry, he loves to play golf and he is a member of Grange Park Golf club where he is constantly reminding us of his endeavors to hold onto his 12 handicap! His other interest include his garden and keeping chickens but his great passion is fly fishing and tying his own flies…..he is still reading Fly Fishing by J R Hartley!

At work, Andrew enjoys treating and looking after the patients of Kiln Lane and has done for almost 20 years. His area of interest is treating nervous patients and hopes his relaxed and easy manner delivers a more pleasant experience and encourages them to attend regularly. Other special interests include cosmetic dentistry, Endodontics, Invisalign braces along with all other aspects of general dental care.

Susie Gardiner - BDS MFDS RCS Edin (Ncle 2003 GDC reg no 81847)

Qualifying in 2003 from Newcastle University Susie joined our team in 2008.  Visitors to Kiln Lane will remember her leaving to start a family in 2011 and after becoming a proud mum of two beautiful children she returned to Kiln Lane in January 2014 as a firm favourite with patients for her gentle approach.

Susie has a particular interest in Invisalign (invisible braces) and facial aesthetics although enjoys all aspects of dentistry. Susie believes that working with families and giving the tools, techniques and tips for healthy teeth now helps maintain excellent oral health for their lifetime making her the perfect choice for family dental care.

St Helens Practice Manager Jo Murphy

Felicity Key BDS (Sheff 2009 GDC reg no 177973)

Felicity qualified in 2009 from Sheffield University.

Originally from Crosby she moved back home after completing her studies and worked in Skelmersdale full time before joining the Kiln Lane Team.

Her particular interest within dentistry is Endodontics (root canal therapy) for which she is studying for a Masters (Msc) presently and is due to complete her post graduate training in 2015.

Aside from Endodontics, Felicity thoroughly enjoys all other aspects of general dentistry and believes that communication is key when it comes to treating patients.

Outside of dentistry, Felicity keeps fit by running (when her knees allow it!) and going to the gym.  She also spent a period of time in France and tries to keep up with her French speaking, reading and listening when she has time.

St Helens hygienist Jo Rayka

Jo Rayka EDH GDC reg no 6292

Jo qualified with a Diploma in Dental Hygiene at Liverpool Dental University in 2003.

Following several dental hygiene posts, in both NHS and private practice, she rejoined Kiln Lane in 2005 after previously working here as a nurse.

Jo sees her role as not only treating gum disease but helping to prevent it by giving patients the tips, tools and techniques they need to achieve and maintain a healthy smile. She has a great feeling of satisfaction when she sees patients who attend for maintenance appointments smiling, and confident in doing so, especially when they first attended with advanced periodontal conditions. This means that the treatment she has provided for them coupled with the adoption of a good oral hygiene routine at home has stabilised the disease.

By working alongside general practitioners, implantologists and periodontists, she has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in the treatment of periodontal disease. Following qualification Jo has worked hard to develop her skills so that she keeps abreast of new advances and techniques as they arise. Amongst other things, she has had training and has gained experience in the use of Photodynamic Therapy (P.D.T.) with the Periowave laser along with other adjuctive therapies.

When she is not working she loves to spend time with her husband and their two young children. Weekends are normally spent day-tripping with their two Staffies in tow whilst holidays are regularly taken in Romania - her husband's home country.

St Helens Receptionist Janis Dowling

Wendy Rimmer - GDC reg no 4912

Wendy qualified as a Dental Hygienist from Liverpool Dental University in 1995 before going on to qualify as a Dental Therapist there in 1998 (EDT).

On qualifying she worked in the Community Dental Services based in Liverpool and also as a staff hygienist at Liverpool Dental Hospital. Throughout her career she has worked in various NHS and Private practices across Liverpool, Wirral and more recently, St Helens.

Dentistry is ever evolving and Wendy values the importance of continued professional development. She has gained knowledge and experience in the treatment of periodontal disease by attending training courses and by working alongside general practitioners, implantologists and periodontists.

Wendy is a firm believer in prevention being better than cure and feels that the advice and information she can offer patients can empower and motivate them to take control of their own oral health. She gains a sense of achievement when patients present with improved oral health through their own commitment.

When not in work Wendy loves spending time with her husband of 17 years and their children but does like to sneak off for a quiet read or to attend a Pilates class now and then!
